  1. A great Bog Slide occurred in this part of east Kerry on Saint Stephen's Night about the years 1898. This bog which was called "Portac na Mine" was situated in Cnocnageeha a townland about a mile west of Tureencahill school.
    It is said that the year in question was a very wet year, with the result that this bog got flooded. Hence the accumulation of water and gas in it caused portion of it to burst forth and break away. The occurrence took place at midnight. It is said
