  1. In former times people sought remedies for their ailments not in chemist shops as now-a-days but in herbs and plants.
    Slanlus was good for a sore throat when boiled in new milk. Bainikeen boiled in milk was good for sick cattle. Marsh-mallow was used for running to strains and swollen muscles. The wild snowdrop was a cure for measles. The root of the briar boiled in milk was a cure for scour in animals.
