  1. The famine times affected this district a good deal, as their Chief food was potatoes at that time. Some say it was a just visitation because a year of plenty came before it, and the grain crop was so fertile that there was wheat in abundance, and the people freelyl used wheaten flour. So they reflected very much on the potato-crop and were unwilling to eat them.
