- I am living in the townland of Castlebaldwin, which is a fairly small townland. It got its name from a follower of Cromwells whose name was Baldwin. As Cromwell got a big sum of money from some of the English when he was fighting against Charles he had to pay them back again in some way, and as he was unable to give them money he gave them land in this country.
