  1. There are a number of holy wells in this district namely "St Patrick's well, "St Brigid's well" and St Philip's well." There are two of them at the back of the creamery and there is another one in Cloongad. St Patricks well got its name from Saint Patrick. It is said that when he was going from Tawnagh to Aughannagh that he passed by it. There were two trees growing over it but one of them was cut down and a cross was found in the middle of it. It is not known how St Brigids well got its name. It is said that long ago people used to visit it and say the rosary beside it. There is a small
