- Once there was a woman who had twelve children. She had no money to buy food for them. So one day as she could not bear to hear them crying and roaring with the hunger she got a big pot of water into which she put a stone and pretended to the children that she was making beef soup.
Just then a big, tall man came and knocked at the door. The woman opened it and and told him to come in. He did so. After a while he asked her what she had in the pot, and she told him.
