  1. The animals we keep on the farm are cows, calves, pigs, sheep, a horse and a donkey.
    We keep four cows, three black ones and a red one.
    They are kept in the byre in the Winter time and are given hay and straw to eat. They are tied around the neck with a chain. In Summer they are left out in the fields day and night.
    Calves are of little or no trouble on the farm. They get milk to drink when they are young but as they get older they get nothing only to eat the grass.
    We keep three pigs. They are fed twice daily with potatoes and meal and are given milk to drink. When they are about three months old they are brought to the fair and sold.
