  1. Local Industries were carried on here some time ago, but they have almost died down now.
    The principal ones were spinning , weaving , basket making and candle making.
    People had their own sheep so as to have wool to spin.
    this was done by means of a spinning wheel.
    There were at least one or two spinners in every village.
    These went from home to house spinning.
    One spinner could spin as much wool as two carders could card.
    When all was spun the thread was sent to a weaver and he made it into the required goods which were blankets shirts and stocking.
    Basket making was also carried on here some time ago and even yet survives in
