    Do bhí buachaill aimsire ag feirmeóir agus is leite do gheibheadh sé chun gach béile. Tráthnóna amháin tháinig sé isteach agus bhí an leite ullamh roimis. Dúbhairt sé an méid seo d'fonn is go gcloisfheadh bean an tíghe é -
    "Meal upon water and salt upon that,
    Put out on a pláta and bláthach with that,
    Is a ghúistís na n'árann what comharúgheadh (?) is that,
    For a poor buachaill aimsire that must work very hard"
