  1. (continued from previous page)
Cheer up my boys with heart and hands,
And think on new Year's Day.
How we raised the flag of freedom,
With our banners bright and gay.
    Chorus
As we marched to Skreen we wore the green
    And cheered on every bray,
To bring freedom to old Ireland
On a happy New Year's Day.
    II
The mountain brow did smile with joy.
And as we came down the Ladies bray
    We viewed Tireragh's shore.
The bands that came to meet us.
They marched in ranks so gay
And the sight of all Tireragh.
Was the Leyney boys that day.
    Chorus.
As we marched to Skreen we wore the green
    And cheered in every bray,
To bring freedom to old Ireland
On a happy New Year's Day.
    III
The Collooney boys they all came there
    From Easkey and Dromore
    The ships upon the ocean.
They rowed their boats to shore.
    Chorus.
