  2. There was an old school house over where Denis Holly Lives. It was in his farm. The name of the teacher was Michael Moriarty. There was a man going from house to house. His name was Paddy Mulvihill. In the townland of Tarmons these were. In doors they taught. These people were no strangers. Michael Moriarty lived in Denis Holly's house where he was teaching too and the other fellows lived in the parish of Newtownsandes. Schools used be carried on in farmers houses. The teachers were called poor scholars". The teachers used get no payment but to give them plenty
