Where honey tips the woodline tree as the sun is sinking low.
Till twilight shadow vales the arch
    Where Leitrim Waters Flow
Upon each Sunday evening it the merry month of June.
When all the feathered warblers are pouring forth their tune.
Upon its towering battlements the boys sit in a row
While beneath their feet like amber threads
    Where Leitrim Waters Flow
But alas those days have vanished and youthful pleasure is gone.
The cursed emigration scheme is draining them one by one.
The young men all both great and small to foreign lands they go.
    From Aughoo bridge and Riversdale,
    Where Leitrim Waters Flow.
The angler too with line and hook along those waters roam,
Companions of my childhood days alas now far from home,
When far beyond the Atlantic waves my thoughts fly back, but slow.
