  1. An invitation
    1
Wil you come to my old habitation,
    Adjacent to Lough Allen's Shore,
In the shade of a Sylvan plantation
    Where songbirds their melodies pour.
Where winter is pleasant and cheerin'
    Where summer is terrestial bliss,
In vain would you seek through Green Erin
A scene more endearing than this.
    2
I will show you the Shannon's expansion,
Lough Allen with islands so bright,
    And Mr Mcgauran's fine mansion,
    An Eden of sylvan delight,
The woodlands, the moorland and mountains,
A scene that you ne'er can forget,
The streams and the bright sparkling fountains
Like lamps in a fairyland set,
    3
'Tis the land of the proudest achievements,
Adorning the page of the past,
The land of the saddest bereavements
The beaten and broken at last
Where the wail of the weak and the hoary
Was wafted afar on the gale.
