  1. Once upon a time there lived a woman in Bawn who invited St Patrick to a feast and when he came the woman sat him down to a dish of meat. It was a greyhound that she had cooked for him and he blessed himself and said Grace before Meals and the greyhound jumped up of the dish and walked out on the door and he ran through the fields and as he was running he burned all the tops of the rushes and from that day to this there never was a green top on a rush St Patrick left a curse on Bawn.
