  1. One evening fair as I did rove,
    To seek for recreation,
    For Cairn Hill I took my way
    To see its elevation.
    When its lofty summit I had gained
    I sat myself down quietly,
    To contemplate upon the works
    Of God, the great Almighty.
    A large expanse had met my glance,
    At which I greatly wondered
    To see the land of Con, our Connaught king,
    Whose battles were one hundred.
    One hundred times he did triumph
    In dreadful battle hour,
    O'er the hostile provincial kings
    Who strove to check his power.
    But turning round from this I espied
