  1. We live in Darcy's estate. They were the landlords to whom our forefathers paid the rent which was over a pound an acre. Together with the rent the tenants had to give a number of free days labour during the year. The wages they were paying that time was sixpence a day.
There was a small house not far from Darcy's door and he wanted to get the people evicted and their house broken down. He brought the case to court.
The day the court was to be held in Galway Darcy fell dead and the people were left in their homes.
In a field close to where Darcy lived there is a place called Clais an Aifrinn where the people collected and the priest said Mass on Sunday in the Penal days. About a hundred yards from the place there is a cave where the priest hid his vestments and Sacred vessels.
On the place where Mass was read there is a rock with the imprint of the priest's knees on it.
