There were progressing favourably and had partly turned the rock when a terrible storm suddenly came on, thunder, crashed and flashed, but undauntedly the young men worked on. They had just gained enough leverage with the crowbars for a supreme concerted effort to completely overturn the huge rock, when a large black wolfhound with blasing eyes suddenly rushed at them from a thicket near by, and terrorised by that surely was an unearthly vision they threw their weapons away and the rock fell back into its place.
Both young men died before the year was out and no attempt was made since to unearth the Raheelin buried treasure.
