- My home district is Glenfarne, and the name of my town land is Loughross[?], in the parish of Cloonclare and in the Barony of Dromahaire. There are thirteen families living in the town land of Loughross [?]. There are forty five people living in it. McManus is the most common, name. The most of the houses are thatched and there are only a few slated. There is a little lake in Loughross [?], and it is said that a man by the name of Ross was drowned there and that then "Kough - Ross" was put on the town land from that day forth.
There are about five old people living in it. They know some old sayings in Irish but they cannot tell stories In Irish. There names are Pat McHugh, Felix McHough, Thomas McManus, and Rose Mooney.
Houses were more numerous in olden times, because some of the people living there had no land at all. When emigration started to America most of the young people emigrated. The town land is not mentioned in song in verse. The land is hilly and foggy. There is no word There are lots of streams in it.- Bailitheoir
