    The present town is only a skeleton of the old town of Loughrea, for there were many streets which are not there any longer. Two streets were from the Main Street to meet the "Wallds" and at that time the Carmelite Nuns lived where Long's drapery show now is.
    In a town not far from this there is a graveyard with a depression running across it. In the famine times the people were dying so frequently and in such numbers that there was no time to dig seperate graves.
