the houses with rushes or straw.
The house consisted of a room and kitchen, and almost every thing in the house was made by the people themselves. They made the seats of the chairs with straw, they also made basket chairs with their rods. they made wooden plates and naighíns.
In the houses they had a press-bed and a table which they kept up against the wall, and they took it down for themselves.
In each house there was a wide hearth stone, and a seat at each side of the fire and a hob
