  1. A Local Song

    Come, come beautiful Eileen,

    I
    Come, come beautiful Eileen,
come for a drive with me,
    up by the mountains
    and down by the fountains,
    and away over the valleys,
    and won't it be lovely,
Make up you mind, and don't be unkind to me,
And we'll drive to "Old Loughrea".
    II
To the road I'm no stranger,
    I'm no Connaught ranger,
And leap like a bird on my jonten car,
    But Eileen said no sir,
With you I won't go sir,
you'ld know what the story would be,
    I'ld rather be walking,
    Than have the people talking,
you'ld know what the people would say.
