  1. Local Cures
    If you have sore eyes wash them in cold tea and they will be cured.
    To cure a sty in the eye get nine gooseberry thorns and measure three, three times across the sty in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost.
    The cure for a whittle is a poultice of snails.
    The cure for a boil is a poultice of soap and sugar. Another cure is wax or tar.
    The cure for a corn is to tie wax around it, and it will soak it out.
    To feed a ferret on white bread and milk and whatever he would leave after him, give it to a child that would have the [chi....cough] and the child would be cured.
    If you have a sore throat fry salt on the pan, put it in a stocking & tie it around your neck.
    To cure a wart get a smail you would not be looking for and rub it to the wart.
    Rub a lizard to a burn and it will cure it.
    & Foxe;s tongue will take out a thorn.
    To cure a headache drink strong tea.
    Another cure for a burn is to slice a raw potato and rub it to the burn: also rub
