Violet leaves were used long ago for cancer. The tops of red clover were used for coughs or colds. The 'lily of the valley' was used as a great benefit in heart diseases. Blackcurrant leaves were used in hoarseness and affections of the throat.
    Long ago it was believed that if you asked a man who was driving a white horse for a cure for the whooping cough, any cure he would mention would be successful.
