On the morning of the wedding the man would go to the girl's house, with a number of his friends by means of horses and sidecar, and also by means of horses and saddle, and it was an old saying that an uneven number of horses was unlucky and also a white horse was supposed to be unlucky.It was an old custom to pelt old shoes and old brooms after the wedding party, for luck. When they would be married he would take her home sitting behind him on a horse this was one of the oldest customs. On the journey home there would be a bonfire at every house, and the people standing at the doors waving good luck and also the youngsters of the village would meet them with lighted torches, amid shouting(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
