  1. In this district, many days are observed as festival days. On St. Stephen's day, the young boys go about from house to house gathering money. They buy sweets and cakes with the money they gather.
    Some young men go about from house to house on bicycles. They travel fifty or sixty miles during the day, and they buy drink with the money they gather.
    All young people are delighted when St. Patrick's day comes, as they get a shilling from their parents on that day.
    All young people love Xmas day, as they get presents from their friends on that day.
    On Ash Wednesday, the people go to the chapel, and the priest puts ashes on their foreheads.
    On St. John's night, the people light a bonfire, and they put a bone into it.
    A cock is killed for St. Martin's day, and the blood is sprinkled about the place.
