the exception of a piece of low lying land some of which is a common and the rest is divided up into little fields. It is called a "turlough" and it floods in Winter. A drain runs from this turlough through Costelloe's bog and it joins some river which joins the Clare. This drain divides Carantanlass from Carrarea. Some of this drain dries in Summer but a couple of hundred yards from it pumps water and supplies water to Carrantanlass. There are no woods in this village.
