    This incident was the last of the kind to occur in the County.
    After the death of Mr. Burke, ladies named Rathburn got possession of Strongfort Castle. Their brother, Captain Rathburn, lived in Ballymore House at the time. A man named Mr. Crowe married Miss Rathburn, and when he died, his widow sold the place to Mr Fergus Kearns who came from Peterswell and who still occupies it. The ruins of the castle are still to be seen on the banks of the Dunkella river. The original dwelling house had a thatched roof and was accidentally burned about twenty years ago. It was then replaced by a slated dwelling, where the Kearns family now live
