  1. Local Heroes
    In 1911, Mr Charlie Harris was given half-an-hour odds in a long race against a race-horse Cathleen H. he won.
    Mr. Harris and his brother Paddy ran a race with other men from some place down past Swords to Drumcondra Bridge.
    Charlie was leading with Paddy about ten yards behind him. Charlie was about ten yards from the bridge when he caught his foot in the curb stone and fell. He had to get six stitches and Paddy won the race.
