    Local Ruins
The district of Balrothery is very rich in ancient ruins of castles and buildings. At the end of village and on a height there are some fine ruins of the old Church. There is a square steeple with an angular rounded tower.
In the adjoining field is a portion of a square castellated mansion.
On Hoare's land in Whitehart is the ruins of ancient buildings which is supposed to be the ruins of a monastery in Grace Dieu near Ballyboghill. At Bremore hall a mile north of Balbriggan is he ruins of an ancient monastery which was built by St Molaga.
This is called Lan Beacaire which means Bee Keeper because St Domnoc was the first man to bring bees to Ireland from St Davids monastery in Wales.
