    A Funny Story
    Long ago a very cruel landlord ruled the district of Balrothery. He was very hard on a certain family and raised the rent so high that the poor people were not able to pay it. Now there were three sons in this family, but one of them was innocent. They killed he landlord one day, as he was going down the road and buried his body at the top of the garden. When they had him buried they be-thought of the innocent boy seeing them burying the landlord, and thought he would tell. During the night they dug up the landlord's body and buried an old billy goat in the place instead. The police had suspicion of this family, and next day they came to question the family about the landlord. Two of the sons denied al knowledge of him, bu the innocent boy said that they killed him and buried him at the top of the garden. The police asked him to show them where they had the landlord buried. He said of they liked he would dig up the landlord. The police
