  1. A Beautiful Old Saying.
The old people in Moville had many lovely customs long ago. Here is one of them.
If any old person was going into a house and if it were snowing or if the snow was on the ground they would say these words
God Bless each corner of this house,
    And be the lintel blest,
And bless the hearth, and bless the board,
And bless each place of rest.
God bless the door that opens wide
    To stranger as to kin,
And bless each window crystal pane,
That lets the sky light in,
    God bless the roof-tree overhead,
    And every sturdy wall.
