When a person buys anything and agrees to pay at some future date, not having the money at time of purchase, they are said to be buying "on tick".
When too much money is given by a purchar for an article, then the money he gets back is called change.
Articles bought on the street from a stall or stand on a fair or market day, are said to be cant purchases.
When a dealer makes a bargain about an animal, he very often does not pay at the time, but so that the seller will not go back on his bargain he often gives a bit of money to him.
This money is called "Earls" and some call it "Earnest" money.
No day except Sunday is considered unlucky for buying or selling.
Markets were always held in the nearest town and they still are held in the same place.
