In the year 1887 a lad by the name of Edward Cavanagh was herding cattle out on a mountain in Glenagannon. At night fall the cows came home but the herd did not return. His people got very uneasy about him and they went out and searched the mountain from top to bottom but all was in vain. At last they went and told the priest about it and the priest told them not to worry because he would return. At the end of a week the boy returned and said that he could see the people out looking for him and they walked over the place where the fairies had him.
This story was told by Patrick Canny of Gortinny, Carndonagh. He is a farmer and about 40 years of age. He has lived all his life in this country.
