It is said it is a sin to sow on Sunday, and this is the old proverb "What you sow on Sunday, you rip on Monday. Monday is a lucky day to plant potatoes although they are planted here around Saint Patricks day.
If on whit-Sunday a mare gives birth to a foal, the foal with either be killed or will kill some other body. People do not sleep on this day as it is said they will be dead before this day next year if they do so.
St. Brigids day is known as the "cross" day. People make crosses on this day out of rushes in honour of St. Brigid. People usually boil potatoes on St. Brigids Eve night and bless the crosses.(continues on next page)
