  1. It was a summer evening in the gloaming. A wee woman above the size of a girl of five, and dressed in a red hat and coat came into the kitchen. She made signs to his grandmother that she was hungry and pointed to a barrel of meal in the corner. The grandmother gave her a bowl of the meal, and she left without having spoken. In the gloaming the next evening she came back with the bowl of meal. (Here the story ends abruptly)
