A fox was one night going into a farm yard and caught by his tail in a trap. No sooner that be caught he bit off his tail. Soon afterwards when he saw his comrades he was much ashamed of himself and he advised the others to cut off their tails.2.
A farmer was one night awakened by a noise among his fowl. On going to investigate the matter he found Mr Reyanrd was very busy. The sly fox pretended to be dead. The man caught him and dragged him out of the fowl-house and left him lying in the yard. He went back to close the door of the fowl-house, and when he came back he found out the fox was gone. - Times ago some people could take away their neighbour's milk. On a new May morning before the sun would rise some old women would go around dragging a straw rope after them singing "come all the butter to me". Afterwards the people around would have no butter on their milk.
