    1st Feb. which is called Candlemas Eve.
    It is said that on New Year's Eve people would bring in enough water before sunset to do them until the next morning so that they would not have to go for any more that night.
    People used to pull yarrow on May Day Eve and put it under their pillows. They were not able to speak from bedtime till they went to sleep. Then they would dream on it and whoever they would dream about was supposed to be their future wife or husband.
    At Garton near Letterkenny there is a flag-stone on which Colm Cille was supposed to have been born. It was the custom there for people
