Fr. Hegarty's rock is to the left hand side of the road at the top of the hill between Milford and the Protestant school.
Fr. Hegarty was parish priest of Killygarvan parish about two hundred years ago. He lived in a place called Oughterlin near Rathmullan. Dr. Gallagher was Bishop of Raphoe at this time. The Bishop suspended Fr. Hegarty's predecessor a Fr. Caulfield for some misconduct.
