  1. When a cow stands with drooped head and refuses to eat, chew the cud and give milk she is supposed to be "shot" or "blinked" by the fairies.
    To find out if she is "shot" a man measnures her from the point of the trail to the point of the nose. The measure he uses is his forearm, from the point of his middle finger to the point of his elbow. He does this three times. If the measurements do not agree the cow is supposed to be "shot" by the
