- (continued from previous page)When it was nearly daybreak the rain came on and the wind started to blow. The rain was so heavy that the corn and potatoes in the fields were destroyed with the floods. This storm came in August, that year.Last August there was another thunder storm. The sky got very black about two o'clock in the afternoon and just as we were going home from school, after three o'clock,. the heavy thunder and lightning came on and it lasted till about six o'clock. Some of the children were afraid and took shelter in the houses along the road till six o'clock.Another great storm took place on the 11th of August nineteen-hundred-and-thirty-two. It started about eight o'clock at night and lasted all through the night. The lightning started after eight o'clock and such lightning was hardly ever seen before as came that night. Every flash seemed to light up the whole country-side. The thunder was very heavy, too, and there was very little time between the peals.
