    The people had different ways to cure their ailments in former times. To cure the toothache a frog was made go through a little water, and then a nugginful was lifted up and the person kept a little in the tooth for three minutes. The fever was cured by eating the food left behind by a ferret. Ear-ache was cured by going through a cleft in a tree. Rheumatism was cured by crawling under a rock or under a briar. Head-ache was cured by crawling between a donkey's legs, and by giving the donkey a piece of oat cake to eat, and eating the crumbs which fell out of the animal's mouth. Coughs were cured by going through a window six times. Wounds were cured by eating carraigin.
