Some children go barefooted in the summertime. If a person wants a pair of shoes made, he can get them made by a shoemaker. Some people about here mend their own shoes. Shoe-makers are more plentiful now than they were long ago. People with rheumatism used to wear clogs as they were very warm.

The people long ago used to be twenty years and over it (f) before they would wear any shoes. It is usual for the children to go in the bare feet during the summer. It is not right to keep in the house at night feet water.
There are shoemakers in every village round here. Shoemakers are more (plenty) plentiful now than they were long ago.
