    Years ago there was a fair in Carrickmines it consisted of selling cattle. Local sports, wrestling tug o war and throwing the fifty six pound weight. There lived in the Goldenball farmer by the name of Byrne who used to win all competitions. Sylvester was a great wrestler who was fifteen stone weigh and very seldom thrown. George a great weight thrower he could could throw the fifty six pound over the twelve foot bar. Michael a great jumper this family won fame in all classes of sports including football. Killegar tug o war team won fame in many parts of Ireland some years back of such great teams as Jameses Gate brewery and Dublin Metropolitan Guards. There was a man who lived
