The Local Forge

Nowadays we see ruins of old forges
which were worked in Ireland long
ago Near Mathews Cross
KIlmeaden
Co. Waterford.
there are ruins of one. This forge be-
longed to people named Kearney.
Then trade went down and they
started a new forge at Kilmeaden.
Later on this old forge was made into
a dwelling house.
There is a trace of one in Knocka-
derry a few miles from Kilmeaden
and it is said that people named
Mackey worked in this one.
Long-ago there was a door made
in the shape of a horse shoe to be
seen in the forge. It was said that
there was one in Killrosanty
Co. Waterford.
