This is how the Grants got Mocollop. This house and lands were promised also to an officer and after the war this officer had to travel by road until he came to the Great house at Mocollop. On his way he met a road man and he asked him how far was it to Mocollop. The road man said it was five miles. The the officer said, if he had enough of money to bring him back agan to where he came from, that he would never bother with Mocollop Castle.
