  1. I have been inquiring with my father if he knew any poet around here long ago. This is what he told me.
    Patrick Callaghan a native of Letterbrick, was an old poet of long ago. His land is now occupied by Anthony Walsh Letterbrick. Patrick Callaghan sold it to him, and then Patrick went to live in Coolturk. He died about two years ago. He wrote a poem called Sweet Coolnabrinna. Here it is.
    Sweet Coolnabrinna
    I
    As I roved out on a summer's evening,
    Down by the banks of a river side,
    To view the stream and the purling waters,
    Where trout and salmon do gently glide.
