  1. There is an ancient fort on the boundary between Tom Mulhern and John Gaughan in the village of Keenagh. The fort is situated in a field called ball-na-gerann. It is surrounded by a great earthen fence many feet high and it is a complete circle.
    The fort inside is wide and in it are the ruins of an old castle. There are also some graves there showing that some warrior or chieftain of old lived in it.
    In a bog adjacent to this fort there are wood vessels found from time to time.
    The names of the inhabitants of it are not now known.
