  1. There is an old Fort in the townland of Letterkeen in the parish of Newport.
    It is enclosed by a deep trench. There are deep caves in that Fort and lights are seen by several people in it.
    About a year ago a crowd of young men from Shramore dug a part of it, and they got a pot full of bones.
    They left the bones after them and they brought the pot and sold it for thirty shillings.
    Two young men Michael Walsh Lena, and Michael Walsh Bunaveela both in the Parish of Crossmolina were with the men from Shroamore who dug the pot. John Macmanamon
