  1. Once a priest was imprisoned and was about to be executed in Tubbercurry. The clergyman's name was Father Pat Spelman, and when his relatives heard this they sent for Joe Mór, who, at that time was in Strandhill.
    He arrieved in due time and marched up to the prison door with nothing more than a large hammer. With this implement he broke the door and then paraded the streets with the priest. He also defied anyone to leave a hand on either of them.
