  1. The old people do not like to throw out dirty water at night time for fear there might be any fairies passing by that would get a dash of the water. When the old people are throwing out water in the night time they say; “chugat! chugat! an t-uisce salach.” That is a warning to the fairies to get out of the way. One night a woman threw out water and when she threw it out a man came up to her and he had a bucket of water. He dashed the water into her face. He told her to go in to the house and not to throw out any more water at night time.
